Strategic Buyer for the Defense Industry in Karlskoga

We are now looking for an experienced Strategic Buyer for a one-year consulting assignment for our client in the defense industry in Karlskoga. This assignment is suitable for you who want to work in a complex, technically advanced, and socially important business where supplier management and commercial responsibility are crucial for the success of the operation.

You will have overall responsibility for assigned suppliers and articles and work closely with both internal functions and external partners to ensure quality, delivery capability, and cost-effectiveness.

About the Position

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating new suppliers as well as managing and developing existing supplier relationships. You will maintain a good market awareness within your supplier segments and ensure that the supplier base is competitive, approved, and in line with the business's requirements.

The role involves clear commercial responsibility and includes procurement, contract management, supplier follow-up, and cost and TCO analyses. You will work cross-functionally in close collaboration with, among others, SQM, CAM, BU, operational buyers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Evaluate potential new suppliers and manage and develop existing ones.
• Maintain good knowledge of assigned suppliers and the supplier market (products, roadmap, competitiveness).
• Be responsible for maintaining supplier data and related articles in IFS.
• Conduct procurement according to the applicable purchasing process in GMS.
• Establish, manage, and communicate contracts to relevant parties.
• Measure, analyze, and communicate supplier performance and enforce sanctions (e.g., penalties and improvement plans).
• Conduct supplier assessments and evaluations in consultation with SQM and ensure that the supplier base is approved.
• Send inquiries, evaluate offers, and conduct negotiations.
• Select suppliers in consultation with CAM and BU.
• Initiate and conduct purchasing preparation together with operational buyers and SQM.
• Analyze cost calculations and cost development and plan and conduct renegotiations.
• Actively work to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of articles.
• Inform PoC of identified purchasing-related risks or opportunities.
• Be responsible for commercial settlements in connection with claims.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone with several years of experience in strategic purchasing, supplier management, or a corresponding commercial role within the manufacturing industry. You are used to working in a structured, analytical, and business-oriented manner in a technical environment.

• Relevant higher education in engineering, economics, or equivalent.
• Experience in strategic purchasing and supplier development.
• Good understanding of procurement, contracts, and commercial terms.
• Experience in negotiation and cost analysis.
• Familiarity with business systems, preferably IFS.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with many stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English.
